The ceramics course was an introduction to the fundamentals of design and metal fabrication techniques for jewelry. Working with precious and non-precious metals, we learned traditional jewelryconstruction including: sawing, filing, forming, soldering, and polishing. A series of structured assignments guideed as we transformed ideas into finished pieces. Solutions enabled the exploration of personal aesthetic, and the mastery of basic processes.
Similarly, the wookdowrking with handtools course (planer, various chisels, japanese woodsaw, sandpaper etc) allowed me to explore the nature of softwoods by carving and creating different objects.
